A Special Message from Debbie Lee
Through the ages we have celebrated the birthdays of famous people who have impacted our history. Our national calendars are marked with George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Dr Martin Luther King, Benjamin Franklin, and Christopher Columbus birthdays. The dates of our calendar are based on the birth of Jesus Christ.
As a mother, those birthdays that are most memorable to us are those of our children. The days that we labored and suffered intense pain to help the precious gift of a child pass from life in the womb to life in our arms. We never forget those special days and they are always highlighted on our calendars. Whether it is the first birthday or 40th birthday we celebrate each one, knowing the gift of life that God blessed us with.
I was blessed with two sons and one daughter and even though they share the same mother and father and grew up in the same home they are uniquely different. Even though they are adults now, my calendar is still marked with their special dates, and I celebrate who they are, what they have contributed to making this world a better place, and that God chose me to be their mom.
One of the difficult things for a parent who loses a child, is dealing with the birthday after they have died. I remember not long after Marc was killed, I was filling out a form and it asked “How many children do you have?” My heart sank and I didn’t know what the right answer was. I had to think about that. Today I can tell you “I have 3 children, one just beat me to Heaven.”
As you process through grief you learn ways to cope and handle the difficult days. Since today would have been Marc’s 36th birthday, I naturally think of how much I miss that young man. I remember the day he was born at 5:20pm. My mind wanders to the memories of bringing him home to his excited 3 year old brother and 2 year old sister. Marc at age 5, when he rode his bike down a hill, into a cement wall and was knocked unconscious because the brakes had failed. Seeing him in that hospital bed with his stuffed lion next to him and watching him wake up and him asking what had happened.
I can still hear his exhausted, raspy voice when he called to tell me he had made it through BUDs (Navy SEAL School). I can still see his smirky grin after he graduated and earned the honor of being a Navy SEAL. He was so proud, as were all of his family.
I remember his final hug as he left after he came to visit me just before he deployed. I remember my final goodbye at Fort Rosecrans Nat’l Cemetery as I fell and hugged the casket realizing I would never feel his embrace, see his smile, hear his voice and laughter. As I said before I have learned ways to cope through the grief.
You can’t ignore grief, you must process through it and accept it. Everything we do we have choices to make and this year on his birthday I choose to remember and honor Marc and the way he lived his life. I will be visiting Fort Rosecrans and will have a birthday dinner with my “adopted boys”, Marc’s teammates who are in the area, we will have cake. After all, it is still Marc’s birthday.
The majority of my day will be spent accepting Marc’s challenge in his last letter home to do random acts of kindness. He ended that letter with “to my family and friends do me a favor, pass on the kindness, the love, the precious gift of human life.” I will be finding members of the military and buying meals, coffee, handing out gift cards, flowers and then giving them a copy of Marc’s last letter home, a thank you card, and Marc’s hero card.
Each time I do this it brings so much joy knowing I am honoring Marc and giving others a glimpse into the heart of this amazing hero, my son, my mighty warrior.
My challenge to each of you is to do the same, help me celebrate Marc’s 36th Birthday by doing random acts of kindness today and giving that someone a copy of Marc’s last letter home. Take pictures to document what random acts of kindness you did, then send them to us at firstname.lastname@example.org or post them on our Facebook page or Twitter.
God loaned me Marc for 28 years and he has been deployed to Heaven for a new mission. Marc believed Jesus Christ was his Lord and Savior and there is no doubt that we know Marc is there today. I also believe and know I will one day be in Heaven when God calls me home but until then…… by God’s strength, with Marc’s joy, passion and love for life I stay in the battle for our troops and the families of the fallen. I choose to thank God for all the gifts and blessings he has given to me.
Okay now wipe the tears, print Marc’s letter and let’s go change the world!!
HOOYAH MARC LEE!!! I love you forever, Happy 36th birthday in Heaven!
GROUP VISITED GUANTANAMO SAYS OBAMA MUST KEEP GITMO OPEN
Sacramento, Calif. – Move America Forward (MAF) the nation’s largest grassroots pro-troop organization, criticized President Obama’s decision to hire high-powered K street lawyer Clifford Sloan to renew the President’s efforts to close Guantanamo Bay, citing numerous failed attempts and security challenges.
“President Obama has made closing Guantanamo a priority only when it was necessary to please his very liberal base, but most of middle America don’t support closing this important military asset,” said Danny Gonzalez, Director of Communications for MAF. “Polls show that up wards of 63% of Americans want to keep Guantanamo Bay open, showing the failure of President Obama to convince them otherwise over the past 5 years.”
Move America Forward (MAF) sent a delegation to Guantanamo Bay in 2008 and concluded that the facility met and exceeded all standards of decency and respect to the prisoners held there, who are the most dangerous terrorist suspects in custody.
“When we toured GITMO in 2008 we saw that they’re allowed to play soccer, do art, eat McDonald’s and watch Harry Potter movies if they want. Only the most violent and dangerous detainees are kept isolated, and that’s based on their behavior. There is no torture or violation of human rights going on at GITMO” said Gonzalez.
“The President wrongly wants to treat terrorist as common criminals and insert them into the U.S. criminal justice systems and all of the rights afforded to American citizens. That is a disastrous approach because enemy combatants should be tried under a military justice system.
The group also cited the President’s previous failed attempts to find a prison on U.S. soil to relocate the prisoners. “When President Obama had Eric Holder visiting towns like Thomson, Illinois to find a prison to house the terrorists, the local population protested. We don’t want a GITMO on American soil, so where is President Obama going to send these dangerous terrorist suspects?”
MAF says it’s necessary to keep the prisoners under the watchful eye of the U.S. military and not a foreign government like the Yemenis. “In the past hundreds of Al Qaeda operatives or suspects held at GITMO were released to other countries for safekeeping. However many of these dangerous operatives were subsequently let free, then later found back on the battlefield. This has happened under President Bush and Obama. It is irresponsible to transfer terrorist suspects to a country like Yemen if we know that they are either unwilling or unable to keep them detained when they present a danger to American security or our troops in the Middle East,” said Gonzalez. “For all those reasons and more, President Obama must KEEP GITMO OPEN!”

Move America Forward Calls for More Transparency
& Investigation in Light of Newly Revealed Information
Sacramento, Calif. – Move America Forward, the nation’s largest grassroots pro-troop organization, called on Congress to launch more investigations into the Benghazi incident and the cover up by the Obama administration, particularly the conduct of then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
“State Department officials have been coming forward in recent weeks, telling Congress some disturbing details about what could have been done to respond to the terrorist attack on our diplomats in Benghazi. These facts reveal a number of lies told by the administration.” said Danny Gonzalez, Director of Communications for the group.
State Department official Gregory Hicks revealed that U.S. Special Ops forces were told to stand down despite the fact that they were ready to go into Benghazi with time to save Ambassador Chris Stevens and his fellow diplomats. Hicks also revealed that he was instructed by Clinton’s Chief of Staff Cheryl Mills not to cooperate with the investigation led by U.S. Rep. Chaffetz while in Libya.
“This is clear evidence that there was indeed a cover-up, and that Clinton’s office was behind it and attempted to coerce State Department officials into being complicit in the cover-up. The American people should be furious about this.” said Gonzalez.
“Hillary Clinton told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on January 23, that there were ‘no delays in decision making, no denials of support from Washington or from our military.’ Telling Special Ops forces not to go save the lives of U.S. Diplomats under fire sounds like a denial of support. So why did Secretary Clinton lie to the Senate during sworn testimony and why did she direct her subordinates to coordinate a cover-up of the whole incident?” asked Gonzalez.

Islamic Jihad still threat two years later
Sacramento, Calif. – On the two year anniversary of Osama bin Laden’s death Move America Forward the Nation’s largest grassroots pro-troop organization urges President Obama to remember that the threat of radical Islam to America has not diminished and that we must remain vigilant in identifying Islamic jihad threats and treat those who carry out acts of terror with the seriousness they deserve.
“The recent Boston Marathon terrorist attack shows us that the War on Terror is far from over and the threat of Islamic jihad is as real today as it was before Osama bin Laden was killed.” Said Scott Raab, Outreach Director for Move America Forward. “The Boston Marathon was not because of Tax Day or any of the other reasons media outlets tried to suggest, it was because of Islamic jihad, and we need to remember attacks like Benghazi even if they seem like a long time ago to the white house”.
To stop the questioning of Dzhokhar and give a terrorist access to a lawyer, effectively stopping valuable information on other terrorists, terror plots and high level information is inexcusable. It has been two years since Seal Team Six found and killed Osama bin Laden, but the Boston Marathon terrorist attack and attacks on our embassies are a clear sign that our enemies are not beaten.
Every day, radical muslims dream of carrying out jihad like Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev did on April 15th 2013. We must recognize Islamic jihad as the threat, and stop censoring our efforts in attempt at political correctness.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. –Move America Forward (MAF), the nation’s largest grassroots pro-troops organization, expressed disappointment upon learning of the confirmation of Chuck Hagel as Secretary of Defense by the U.S. Senate today. It was one of the closest votes ever and without a doubt the most contentious fight for the post in the history of the office. Although the group fought President Obama’s nominee for Secretary of Defense, MAF says they are undeterred by this loss, and will continue to fight on in the future by holding Hagel accountable to his words.
