Packathon Memorial to Support Troops & Honor Victims of 9/11

Sacramento, CA – Move America Forward, one of the nation’s top-rated and nationally recognized charities for serving the troops on the front lines, will be gathering volunteers in Sacramento on the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks for our annual Packathon drive to pack and ship care packages to troops currently fighting overseas.

The group plans to deploy a large group of volunteers throughout the day, beginning at 10 AM and will not halt work until they reach their goal of shipping 2001 packages overseas and preparing another 911 more. The 911 and 2001 fulfillment goals are mean to commemorate the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks which as of September 11th, 2021, marks 20 years since the horrific terror attacks on that same day in 2001.
The group will include local volunteers, military families, active-duty troops, community leaders and veterans. On hand and available for comment will be Melanie Morgan, Chairman of Move America Forward and former radio talk show host in San Francisco and Napa Valley for decades as well as very special guest World Trade Center survivor and now MAF Ambassador Richard Hannaford.

Hannaford was working for a major financial firm on the 84th Floor of South Twin Tower on the morning of September 11th when the first plane hit the North Tower, prompting Rich to gather friends and begin evacuating. Rich was in the middle of evacuation when the South Tower was hit just seventeen minutes later, so if not for his immediate decision to evacuate, Rich would have perished in the South Tower like so many other friends and unfortunate innocent victims that day.

Melanie Morgan and Richard Hannaford will both be available for media interviews from 10AM – 12 PM during the Packathon.
