Moving Forward Together: Annual Packathon Honors 9/11 Victims and Supports Deployed Troops

Sacramento, CA – September 8, 2023 – Move America Forward (MAF), a Sacramento-based nonprofit military charity, is gearing up for its annual Packathon event to commemorate the 9/11 attacks and provide essential care packages to deployed troops. Volunteers from the greater Sacramento area, including members of the American Legion, local businesses, military veterans, military families, and community members, will come together for this heartfelt initiative.

Volunteers will join MAF Ambassador and 9/11 survivor, Richard Hannaford, to assemble 2001 care packages filled with a variety of essential nonperishable items. These packages will include gourmet coffee, snacks, protein bars, SPF sunscreen, lip balm, bug repellent, magazines, phone cards, instant lunches, batteries, personal hygiene kits, handmade items, and letters of encouragement. The goal is to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks by hand-packing 2001 care packages for overseas deployment.
