Move America Forward (MAF) and Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) team up to support Troops in Afghanistan
SACRAMENTO – Wounded Warriors and other Veterans from Northern California will join Move America Forward (MAF), the nation\’s largest grassroots pro-troop organization to support troops in Afghanistan by hand packing Military Care Packages. Veterans and volunteers will be from the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), Team Rubicon and Team Red White and Blue (Team RWB) will be joining Sacramento volunteers from Move America Forward at their Operations Center in South Sacramento. These Care Packages will be shipped to troops serving in Afghanistan and Iraq containing Easter themed marshmallow PEEPS® and pastel jelly beans.
“We have over 18,000 troops deployed in harm’s way, so many families that have to go without their loved ones for months and months. So to get help from fellow veterans to make sure no one is forgotten means a whole lot to me, to our organization and especially to the brave men and women still serving on the front lines that will receive a little taste of home while they are deployed so far from home for so long.” said Scott Raab Outreach Director for Move America Forward
Sacramento-area MAF volunteers, wounded warriors and veterans from the WWP, Team Rubicon and Team RWB will assemble, pack, and tape up hundreds of military care packages filled with the most frequently requested items: like Gourmet Coffee, Premium Beef Jerky and Oreo Cookies provided by the Wounded Warrior Project and other items and seasonal treats like marshmallow PEEPS® and pastel jelly beans for the upcoming Easter holiday. TV and Radio media are encouraged to come interview local area combat deployed veterans and to film them making boxes for the troops.
