9/11 Packathon Honors Through Action

On Friday, September 9, it is time to roll up our sleeves for our fourth annual Packathon event. Packathon will honor the men and women we lost during the tragic events of September 11th, 2001 in the hopes that we will never forget that day when our world profoundly changed. Together, with a warehouse full of volunteers, we will get to work. This year marks the 21st anniversary of the terrorist attacks that united the country against terrorism world-wide. The horrific events of that day led to thousands of young men and women to enlist in the military to serve and protect our country. Many of whom still serving to this day. Our Goal is to ship 2001 packages and remind Americans never to forget that our selfless troops are our first and best line of defense against terrorism ever returning to our shores. Packathon’s a huge project but we can do it thanks to you!

On hand will be our very special guest, Move America Forward Ambassador and Tower two survivor Richard Hannaford. On September 11, 2001, Richard glanced out his window on the 84th floor of Tower 2 of the World Trade Center and saw papers fluttering in the air a half mile from the ground. He knew then something was terribly wrong. Acting fast he and a few others were able to make it to safety. We must NEVER FORGET the very serious and somber reason why we’re holding this event. Richard has dedicated his life in sharing his story with others so that younger generations know of the real dangers that we face as a nation from those that wish us harm and knows that our troops are the only reason there has not been another 9/11 since. If you have not seen Richards story please watch the video below.

VJ Day stands for “Victory Over Japan”

September 2, 2022 is the 77th Anniversary of the End of World War II. VJ day commemorates our victory over Japan and the signing of the articles of Japanese surrender and the end to World War II. Prior to this, President Truman announced Japan’s unconditional surrender to a gathering of reporters at the White House on the eve on August 14, 1945. As a result, Americans took to the streets in celebration. We did it! We won! Our boys would be coming home! No greater moment was felt by any American alive!

Perhaps no photo captures the elation of the moment like the iconic image of a sailors kiss. Taken at New York’s Time Square, a young sailor bends a white clad nurse over his arm for a victorious smooch. American’s nationwide celebrated Victory!

This day is a new beginning in the history of freedom on this earth. Our global victory has come from the courage and stamina and spirit of free men and women united in determination to fight.

-President Harry S. Truman

Wounded Warrior Project Volunteers Giving Back

Our friends from the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) were back! A statewide volunteer call saw WWP alumni join us to give back. For years we have been so thankful to the countless Alumni who answer the call and work to hand pack military care package for those still serving on the front lines. These dedicated warriors know how it feels to be far away from home and family and what it means to receive a care package. They sacrificed an entire day to pack hundreds of boxes for the troops

Even if you can’t be here to help pack boxes yourself, you can join in the spirit of our WWP volunteers by sponsoring a box that will go to a brave serviceman or woman in need. Just got to www.moveamericaforward.org to donate or request a care package!

Girl Scout Adventurefuls™ a Tasty Treat

Care packages are indeed great to receive, and our troops love them. Imagine not only hearing your name called unexpectedly at mail call but also discovering coveted Girl Scouts Cookies. Jackpot!

Adventurefuls™ are the newest cookie that the Girl Scouts have introduced this year, but all of our troop’s favorite flavors have arrived. Samoa, Thin Mint, Do-Si-Dos… “Operation Thin” makes sure every single year we have these delicious cookies by letting people buy cookies specifically for our troops!

You donation can help us deliver this new chocolaty brownie cookie topped with caramel crème and just a hint of sea salt, yes please! Girl Scout cookie season is over for us at home, but luckily our troops can still enjoy receiving care packages full to the brim of all types of treats and necessities including decadent Adventurefuls™.

Photo of the Month – Certificate of Appreciation

Everything we do here at Move America forward is to support the brave men and women serving on the front lines and be a resource to their families! We were extremely excited to hear back from the CA National Guard that our recent care package deliveries were well received! We shipped out all the care package needed to recent deployments overseas! Call us surprised and more than that humbled when we received a certificate of appreciation from the California National Guard. Our job is to thank them and here they are thanking us, what an honor.

Of course, without the support from you, care packages quite simply would not go out. It is your support, your dedication and your generosity that put those care packages into the hands of our deployed men and women in uniform. Thank you for all your do, heroes!
