Today is the 72nd anniversary of Pearl Harbor. More than 2000 Veterans and their families gathered at Pearl Harbor for a moment of silence at 7:55 A.M. this morning, the exact time that the first bombs hit 71 years ago. The men and women of the “Greatest Generation” earned that name after the horrific and cowardly attack on Pearl Harbor during the morning hours of Dec. 7, 1941. Those brave Americans rose to the occasion and restored freedom and order to the world.
As we remember the surprise attacks by the Japanese that led to so many American lives being lost and launched United States into World War II, it’s hard not to remember the more recent events where we were attacked on September 11th. As FDR described the attack on Pearl Harbor, 9/11 is a date which will live in infamy.
Today, the NEW Greatest Generation is now on the ground, in the seas, and in the air fighting Muslim Jihadists who brought war to America’s homeland on Sept. 11, 2001. Scores upon scores of patriotic men and women joined the Armed Forces after September 11th, and fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. They have sacrificed their lives, just as our troops did in World War II.

After Pearl Harbor, and again after 9/11, our troops fought fiercely to destroy enemies who threaten America. The cost of freedom is never cheap, it is paid for by the sacrifice of many brave young men and women who pay the ultimate price for our freedom. We must remain eternally grateful and show our appreciation to those who risk their lives every day.
It has been a long and difficult road for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan; they have fought so hard and sacrificed so much, but in that sacrifice they have won many stunning victories, and accomplished things they were told could not be done. For that we are grateful and blessed to live in a nation protected by such courageous individuals. Please remember those troops today, and offer your support.
Each Christmas & Holiday Care Package comes with a Christmas stocking, hot cocoa & cider, and sweet stripes candy canes!
Sacramento, Calif. – Move America Forward, the nation’s largest grassroots pro-troop advocacy organization expressed dismay at the news that the US has reached a short-sighted deal with the Iranians over their nuclear weapons program, which will further destabilize the Middle East and threaten US interests in the region.
“This deal is not a good first step as claimed, but it is a step in the wrong direction, ” said Danny Gonzalez, Director of Communications for Move America Forward. “Iran has consistently lied to the West and hid how much uranium they are enriching and are capable of enriching. Iran announced to the world that they were enriching Uranium in 2006 when it was already a well-known fact that they had been doing so since 2003. They were not truthful then, and they have continually resisted outside inspections to verify that they were not advancing a military objective of nuclear weapons. Lifting any of the economic sanctions makes no sense when it is based on their word that they’re going to stop enriching weapons grade uranium.”
“Since the Iranian regime continues to threaten our closest ally in the region, there should have been no agreement without giving Israel a seat at the negotiating table. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu was forced to strongly and publicly denounce this agreement because their security is further impaired under this agreement, and American interests will be compromised if the Iranians are able to change the balance of power in the Middle East by becoming a nuclear power.” concluded Gonzalez.
U.S. troops getting free coffee

- Rogers Family Company has donated 41,349 bags of coffee in the last two months to MoveAmericaForward.org.
- On November 6, 2013 Rogers Family Company made its most recent donation of 10,922 bags of coffee to MoveAmericaForward.org which will be shipped to our active duty soldiers in individual care packages.
When I decided to write this article, I had no idea of the generosity this company and its owners were capable of. I was so proud to work for this company already, and learning the details of this giving program has now made me beam with pride.
Naively, I wondered why soldiers in the desert would want coffee. As of the writing of this article, it is 45 degrees in Kandahar International Airport. OK, I get it now. So you might be asking yourself, “who is Move America Forward?” Well, I will let them explain that. Move America Forward mission statement:
Move America Forward (MAF) is the nation’s largest grassroots pro-troop organization dedicated to supporting the brave men and women of our Armed Forces and their missions to defeat terrorism. MAF is supported by hundreds of thousands of pro-troop activists, veterans, and military families all across the nation who share in our unwavering support.
As a business, Rogers Family Company believes it is their duty to give back and who better to give to than those laying their lives on the line each day? Working with MAF has provided us with a direct link to individual soldiers, and allows us to make a difference in their daily lives. You would be amazed at the smiles and stories that come from these brave men and women when they receive one of these care packages. Small gestures generate huge responses.
EXAMPLES OF SOLDIER COMMENTS/STORIES:
Oliver S. “. . . well we don’t have much access to coffee except in the chow hall which is only open at certain set hours …. exacerbating my condition is that although there is occasionally decaffeinated coffee rarely can I find the good stuff. So anyone is interested my section . . . would be grateful for some good ole ground & caffeinated coffee. . .” Ryan A. “. . . It really does not matter what it is just something that says “hey, you are not forgotten and we still care”. Letters from small kids have been the biggest hit so far. The soldiers love the letters from the kids and the drawings. The only two big request I have had so far is one, Kerige (not sure I spelled that right) the coffee machine that makes one cup at a time. The guys are asking for one that fills travel mugs. We have boxes of coffee but the last machine broke. . . “ History of Move America Forward:
Move America Forward was initially formed by The Honorable Howard Kaloogian and acclaimed broadcast journalist and television personality Melanie Morgan. In response to concerns raised by U.S. troops that the news media was frequently presenting inaccurate coverage that often ignored the success of their missions and accomplishments in the War on Terror.
Together, Rogers Family Company and Move America Forward are dedicated to improving the lives of our active duty soldiers through these care packages. Small gifts mean the world to these men and women.
