After Orlando Terror Attack, Obama and Democrats Choose to Go After Gun Rights Instead of ISIS
We know many of you have been following the news since our first email and you probably already know that the death count in the horrible Orlando shooting has risen to 49 after initial news reports said 20.
We also now know the killer’s name, Omar Mateen, and we know without a shadow of a doubt that he was a Muslim extremist who pledged allegiance to ISIS.
Why then does our President not want to talk about terrorism or Islamic extremism? In his speeches after the attack Obama completely ignored the killer’s religious motivations and attacked gun rights. This is not the first time Obama has refused to recognize the Islamic extremist roots at the heart of killings. After San Bernardino and Paris as well, Obama refused to label the enemy as an Islamic extremist.
He did not promise to track down any connections the shooter may have had to extremist Imams or ISIS collaborators. He did not promise any retaliatory air strikes on ISIS targets in Iraq or Syria (as French President Francois Hollande did after the Paris terror attack).
Instead immediately shifted the conversation to the sovereign 2nd Amendment rights of American citizens. He’s now calling for bans on some guns that he calls “assault weapons” and a ban on citizens who come up on the no-fly list.
In France they have the strictest gun laws. Did that stop the terrorists from getting weapons and killing innocent men, women and children? The problem is Islamic terrorist who are against western democracy and tolerance. This is an attack on our way of life; it is not a problem that will be solved with more gun laws that hamper loyal American citizens.
President Obama has such a severe lack of proper priorities. He is willfully ignoring the threat of Islamic terror and playing politics with gun control while putting Americans at risk by trying to be politically correct instead of more determined to wipe out Islamic extremism.

by Marc. A. Theissen According to the Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg, who spent hours interviewing Obama about his foreign policy doctrine, the president “has never believed that terrorism poses a threat to America commensurate with the fear it generates” and “frequently reminds his staff that terrorism takes far fewer lives in America than handguns, car accidents, and falls in bathtubs do.” That’s right, our commander in chief sees the mass shooting of 49 people in Orlando as akin to a slip in the tub.In his 2016 State of the Union address, Obama blithely dismissed the Islamic State as “fighters on the back of pickup trucks” who he said, in typical strawman fashion, “do not threaten our national existence.” In a 2015 BBC interview, he said , “If you look at the number of Americans killed since 9/11 by terrorism, it’s less than 100.” In other words, no big deal.
We are trying to do our part by supporting the troops. We send care packages, we try to bring our troops overseas some comfort and show that Americans back home support them. Right now we’re desperately trying to raise money for our Troopathon Summer care package effort. This attack comes at a time when we don’t want to take our eye off the ball and distract from the effort currently underway, please help us make a donation to keep Troopathon on track so that we do not lose sight of our goal.
SUPPORTING OUR MEN AND WOMEN IN AFGHANISTAN!
Happy Memorial Day.
Today we remember the millions of Americans throughout history who have sacrificed their lives to fight for freedom, liberty and the American way. Whether it was in World War II, or Afghanistan, we must never forget to honor those who fell in the line of duty to protect us back home.
With summer slowly creeping in, many use this three-day weekend as an opportunity to enjoy the luxuries that surround us. Are you participating in a Memorial Day parade or ceremony? Maybe you are gathering with friends and family for a day at the beach or making hamburgers on the grill.
The warm sun and extra time away from work could make it easy to forget what this day represents. Since the creation of our great nation, men and women have laid down their lives in order to protect us – for that we should be forever indebted. We can’t forget that Memorial Day is about honoring those men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice.
We have over 18,000 troops serving in Iraq (5,000) Afghanistan (13,000) and Syria (500),
waiting for care packages from home to remind them of what they’re fighting for and why they are making such enormous sacrifices.
The deployment of a family member or friend is a trying time for anyone – they will often tell you that one have the happiest days of their life is when their soldier walks through the airport doors, returning from a long deployment abroad. It is usually a deeply emotional reunion in which the unspoken sacrifices that have been made are released. Memorial Day honors those soldiers that were unable to experience that reunion – the fallen heroes that sacrificed everything in defense of our nation.
On September 11, 2001, Osama bin Laden and his extremists organization, Al Qaeda, woke a sleeping giant. For the past decade American soldiers, under the orders of their superiors, have taken the fight to the doorstep of the enemy – they have taken the threat away from civilians and put themselves at an increased danger.
Today, this Memorial Day, help us thank those troops that are still fighting the battle against Islamic Extremism in Afghanistan.
Now, more than ever, our troops need to see your support. They need to know that though they may be half a world away, they have an entire country behind them.
Whether you spend this weekend doing yard work, watching the big game on TV, spending time with family, or bar-b-qin’, don’t forgot to appreciate what this weekend really is about. America is the greatest nation in the entire world, made possible by the bravest soldiers in the world – soldiers that are willing to put their life on the line in order to defend this country.
Make sure to take some time and honor the sacrifice of these heroes. CLICK HERE TO SEND A CARE PACKAGE
to the troops who are still in harm’s way – the ones who are carrying on where their fellow troops left off.
Motel 6 Leaves Light on for U.S. Military on Sacramento’s Big Day of Giving by Supporting Move America Forward Care Package Program
Combat deployed U.S. Troops overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan will soon be enjoying care packages and donated items from a regional effort by Sacramento area Motel 6 Hotels that supported non-profit organization Move America Forward’s Troop and K9 Care Package Program. All Sacramento region Motel 6 locations brought donated care packages items and supplies collected at their individual locations and spent the National Big Day of Giving volunteering at the Move America Forward Operation Center assembling Military Care Packages for U.S. Military serving in harm’s way in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Tony Meredith, manager of Motel 6’s Rancho Cordova property said “Motel 6 wanted to do this as a way for us to give back and really work together with our community and give something to the troops that have been deployed. Today we’re making the packages, there’s items in there that range from socks to jerky, deodorant, sunflower seeds, certain things that they may not be able to get overseas.”
Binny Tailor, manager of Motel 6’s Woodland property, said that volunteering for the troops is a personal mission. “My brother is a veteran.” She also highlighted Motel 6’s commitment to serving the troops when they come home from war. “We have an initiative we started a few years back called Operation Nextstep. When we’re bringing our troops back home, we’re offering employment to troops themselves or for their family members. So it’s an opportunity to give back to the community and to the troops for the service they provided to us.” said Tailor.
The donations from Motel 6 will go toward sending care packages to about 400 troops deployed in Afghanistan, many of who might otherwise receive nothing while deployed. There are over 13,000 troops still serving in Afghanistan and although President Obama’s administration planned to bring thousands of troops home, that plan was recently revised due to worsening attacks by Taliban forces, so at least 12,000 troops will remain through 2017.
“I know that the work we’re doing here today, even if it just makes one day brighter [for the troops] while they’re over there, our job is done.” said Meredith. “It’s definitely something we look forward to” he said, of the motel chain’s future plans to continue supporting the troops with Move America Forward. “We truly appreciate their service.”
MAF Joins in National Big Day of Giving
Move America Forward participated in the National Big Day of Giving, a day where nonprofits around the country join together and compete to raise money for many inspiring causes.
Unfortunately, the organization that coordinates the National Big Day of Giving had a major technical problem during the day which prohibited Move America Forward from taking donations almost all day.
Because of this technical meltdown we started the day in almost dead last on the leader board.
But, thanks to an extension and our supporters motivated by their unwavering support and love for our military men and women, we have raised $4,764 and were able to climb up the leader board in the top half of charities in our region and had the opportunity to qualify for matching funds.
More importantly, every dollar you donated goes directly towards sponsoring care packages for our brave troops.
The Big Day of Giving organizers offer charities like MAF hundreds of opportunities for bonus prizes and matching funds – but only if we reach certain fundraising goals. With your generous support, we can get substantially more in prize money for the troops! Please help us!

Real Superheroes Don’t Wear Capes!
Our troops wear many hats: defender of our nation; loyal servant; proud patriot; weary soldier; and for many, MOM! Our soldiers are the REAL Superheroes! And since it’s May we wanted to give special recognition to all our warrior mothers.
Deployed moms celebrating Mother’s Day this May have only the hopes of an email, card from home or for the lucky ones a chance to chat with their families via the internet as they serve far from home this year. Of course, they accept this separation dutifully as part of their commitment to our nation, and they do so proudly. But let’s all make certain that those serving in part to protect their children and everyone else’s are looked after too!
We want to make sure these super-moms will have a package in hand to remind them how much they are appreciated! You will even be able to include your own heart-felt message of support!
Our military Moms know the meaning of SACRIFICE better than anyone, so join us thanking them during May for Mother’s Day!

Some Gave All: Memorial Day!
Fly your Flag to Honor those who have died in service to our country!
Monday, May 30, 2016 is Memorial Day. It is seen as a great opportunity for a long weekend of barbecues and a chance to catch a baseball game or hang out with friends, but we at MAF know that Memorial Day means so much more.
Memorial Day was established as an occasion to honor and celebrate Union Soldiers, who died in service to our country during the Civil War. After the end of World War I, Memorial Day was expanded to include all American men and women who died serving their country in any military action or war.
Originally called Decoration Day and celebrated on May 30th traditionally, the current name of Memorial Day came into use following WWII and with the passage of the 1968 Uniform Holidays Bill Memorial Day was officially moved to the last Monday in May.
As our way of honoring those who gave all, we are also asking all of our supporters to fly their flags proudly on Memorial Day, and for those who have flag poles to remember to fly your flag at half mast.
Please take a moment out of your day to remember those who sacrificed their lives in service to the United States of America.
