Ninth Annual Walk to Remember
To Honor Fallen Soldiers
ELK GROVE, CA – The Nineth Annual Walk to Remember will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Elk Grove Regional Park, 9950 Elk Grove-Florin Road, Elk Grove, CA 95624. Check in begins at 9:00 a.m. and Opening Ceremonies at 10:00 a.m. Registration fees, by category, are included in the attached flyer.
Walk to Remember honors SFC Bryan E. Hall, of Elk Grove, and four other soldiers killed in combat in Mosul, Iraq, on April 10, 2009. The patriotic walk is 5K, all in the beautiful Elk Grove Park.
“While we honor Bryan and the four men who died that day, it is our focus to honor all veterans and those who are currently serving. It is important, and especially for young people, to understand, that freedom isn’t really free; there is a price that has to be paid by both the soldiers and the families they leave behind,” states Betty Hall, mother of SFC Hall. President Reagan was quoted, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.”
All proceeds from the walk will be split between the Bryan E. Hall Memorial Scholarship Fund and an education fund established for SFC Hall’s eleven-year old daughter, Addison. Refreshments will be served at registration and the Walk concludes with a luncheon.
