Our Soldiers Gave to Us . . .
Today, on MAF’s Second Day of Christmas, we look back and remember how American troops fought for our newly formed nation, for its freedom to be more than simply a colony of the British Empire. Today we thank our troops for the gift of Independence.
Our Founding Fathers had a vision of independence from Britain, and patriots were willing to put their lives in the line of battle to forge this great country: The American War of Independence, or the Revolutionary War, as it is popularly known.
This war began in humble, brave hearts that yearned for Independence. Many fought and gave their lives, just as today’s heroes have done in the war against radical Jihadists. America became fully independent of Britain’s rule during the signing of the Treaty of Paris.
Benjamin Franklin, a Founding Father and signer of the Treaty, said this about the war for Independence:
“In the beginning of the Contest with G. Britain, when we were sensible of danger we had daily prayer in this room for the divine protection. – Our prayers, Sir, were heard, and they were graciously answered,” Franklin said.
Our men and women today, and during every war, have continued to support the Independence that the Revolutionary warriors won.
As MAF continues counting down our 12 Days of Christmas, We’ll tell the story of a different gift and why we must celebrate our troops. Now is the perfect opportunity to sponsor a holiday care package now for our 68,000 troops in Afghanistan, to show our troops that we are thankful for each gift they have given us.

The battle wages on in Afghanistan as our US-led coalition trains the Aghan security forces. They are in harm’s way so that we enjoy our Independence and Liberty. That is why we are celebrating every one of our heroes during the Christmas season.
During the Iraq war our troops fought bravely for 8 long, bloody years. Almost 4,500 troops sacrificed their lives, but thanks to the brave service of over 1 million sailors, marines, soldiers, airmen and guardsmen, their sacrifices were not in vain.
All the while, the liberal left propaganda machine was telling our troops that the war was lost, and protests in the streets called for them to pull out. But then countless numbers of YOU patriotic Americans back home continued to support the troops and their missions. Thanks to YOU, our troops got the support they needed from home and thanks to our efforts collectively, WE DID NOT CUT AND RUN – we fought on until the bitter end and because of that our American troops are leaving Iraq smiling, with head held high, proud of the good work they’ve done.
Continue to support our troops abroad, especially in Afghanistan. We have over 68,000 fighting, training, and serving there, in harm’s way.
Please sponsor a care package! Our troops volunteer to protect everything that is good in America, and they continue to give us the gifts we will highlight over the next 10 days.
