MAF Condemns House Vote to Surrender in Iraq
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – July 12, 2007
(SACRAMENTO) – The nation’s largest grass-roots, pro-troop organization, Move America Forward (website: www.MoveAmericaForward.org ) expressed angry disappointment that the U.S. House of Representatives would vote for American troop withdrawal before the facts are presented. The report on progress in Iraq from General David Petraeus and United States Ambassador Ryan Crocker is due on September 15th. “The American people should rightly be ashamed today that their elected representatives chose to put partisan politics ahead of the military men and women who are serving in harms way in Iraq to protect American security. At the very same time we are learning that Al Qaeda is regaining strength and aiming another attack on the United States, the House wants to hand a victory to the terrorist by their irresponsible vote,” declared Melanie Morgan, Chairman of Move America Forward. “The record is clear that the terrorists are being destroyed and defeated in Iraq and Afghanistan, but the House wants to stop our victory and surrender it to the jihadists. When we let up on the terrorists and they are able to organize and strike the United States again, what lame excuse will they have then? Politics needs to be put on the shelf and American security needs to be the number one priority,” concluded Morgan. John Ubaldi, Deputy Executive Director of Move America Forward and a Marine reservist who has served in both Iraq and Afghanistan, said, “I am saddened and sickened to think about what those serving in harm’s way will feel after hearing about this vote. The House has just undermined the troops mission.”
