MAF Presents: The Daily Blog

Here at the Move America Forward Daily Blog we chronicle the good news on the War on Terrorism you might not have heard about on the evening news. We also shine the spotlight on those whose conduct against our country and our military is unbecoming.

Vacaville Stop of Pro-Troop Bus Tour

Vacaville- Monday, September 19

Deborah Johns Greets Supporters in Vacaville

The “We Support Our Troops And Their Mission” Bus Tour continued Monday in Vacaville, California, with a raucous rally in front of the Vacaville Veterans Hall.  About 100 people showed up to see Move America Forward co-founder Melanie Morgan and Marine Mom Deborah Johns speak.  Also joining the tour was Gold-Star Dad Joseph Williams, who resides in Vacaville.  Joseph’s son, Michael, died in combat in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The Vacaville stop was particularly important, as it is also the home of anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan, who has been making headlines with anti-military comments in recent months.  This past week she called for a withdrawal of the occupation forces from Iraq and New Orleans.  (Yes, Cindy Sheehan attacked our military men and women who are helping out the reliefs efforts in New Orleans!)

The Vacaville Reporter covered the rally stop.  CLICK HERE to read their news story on the stop.

Patricia King, of Suisun came out with her granddaughter Veronica.  Mrs. King’s husband and brothers are all in the military and loves that there is a rally for them.  “The more bodies at these events, the better,” she said.  “Even if all you do is come out and wave a little flag, it’s worthwhile.” Asked why she brought her granddaughter, she said, “Because I want to help raise her right.”

Curtis Cardwell, his wife Christina, and their two children Jacob and Jillian also came out.  He emphasized that while he mourns Cindy Sheehan’s loss, she does not speak for them.  He wanted to ensure that Iraq is not turned into another Vietnam.

Also speaking was Solano County Supervisor Mike Reagan.  Mr. Reagan has been supporting the pro-troop movement for some time now and spent twenty-eight years in the Air Force.
