A new television ad campaign sets the record straight about President Bill Clinton’s failure to make the fight against Islamic terrorism a top priority of his administration.

The first television ad, “Defending Freedom,” begins airing this week on national television news programs and follows several high profile attempts to recast his administration’s efforts to fight the terrorist threat.  The ad can be viewed online at: http://www.MoveAmericaForward.org

The ads are produced by the nation’s largest grassroots pro-troop organization, Move America Forward (website: www.MoveAmericaForward.org ).  Funding for the ads has been provided by thousands of members of the organization who in the past few days have contributed to this ad campaign. 

Serving as chief spokeswoman for all television, radio and print appearances promoting the new ad campaign will be Move America Forward’s Director of Military Outreach, Debra Argel Bastian, a Gold Star mother who lost her son in the fight against terrorism.

Ms. Bastian is mother of Captain Derek Argel, who was killed in a plane crash on Memorial Day, 2005 during a training mission inside Iraq.

Bastian noted that she believes that “all Americans of all political parties should stand united behind the mission our troops are serving in Iraq and the war against terrorism,” Bastian said.

In the early days of Operation Iraqi Freedom, President Clinton was strongly supportive of the mission American troops were serving there.  In fact at the time Move America Forward had produced and broadcast 4 television ads that praised Mr. Clinton for rallying together with other Americans in supporting the current fight against terrorism.

“Mr. Clinton, we will praise you when you do good, but we will similarly rise up against you when you act in such a shameless fashion.

“Bill Clinton seems to have changed his tune now, and he’s more interested in his own personal glorification than the good of this nation, or showing honor and respect to the young men and women serving in the military to keep our nation safe,” Bastian said.

“To be blunt, before 9/11 no presidential administration took the threat of terrorism seriously enough – both Republican and Democrat administrations failed our nation.  We should accept that these failures took place and move forward, and focus our energies on supporting our current Commander in Chief who has led our military into real and substantive action against the terrorist threat.

“Instead, Bill Clinton seeks to recast events to fool people into believing he was hyper-vigilant about the terrorist threat facing this nation.  No more rewriting history, Mr. President!

“I believe I join many other Americans who are outraged by President Clinton’s recent conduct.  America is at war with Islamic terrorists.  The threat is real and serious, and yet instead of rallying behind our troops and their missions in far away lands, Mr. Clinton decides to wag his finger, drop his jaw, and speak to us with mock incredulity.

“We’ve seen that skit before, Mr. President, and we didn’t buy it then and we aren’t buying it now either,” Bastian concluded.
