Al-Qaida terrorists can run, but they�ll only die tired

(This is a dungeon used by terrorists in Iraq to hide prisoners whom they regularly torture)

As a journalist, I strive to bring news to readers that they won�t get elsewhere. Here at Move America Forward, we search and scan sources from around the world to find stories related to our mission: to support our troops and their missions.

Today, let�s start with news from Iraq, where our troops are cleaning house. Never mind what you�ve heard from Sens. Harry Reid and Hillary Clinton. The United States and its allies, including Iraqi forces, are wiping out nests of terrorists around the world while assisting children and families with their health needs.

Here�s a story from the front lines describing how our troops are snuffing out terrorists with the help of Iraqi civilians who are sick and tired of the crazies destroying their homes and communities:

BAGHDAD, Iraq � Coalition forces found an alleged terrorist detention facility and several weapons caches Friday during an operation to disrupt al-Qaida and foreign terrorist operations in central Iraq.

Intelligence gained from previous coalition forces operations led the ground force to an area believed to be a safe haven for foreign terrorists. In the 24-hour operation in west Samarra, coalition forces discovered a bunker allegedly used as a terrorist detention facility and an area with several hidden weapons caches. Among other weapons, ammunition and military equipment, the ground forces found anti-aircraft weaponry, 12 AK-47 rifles, 18 mortar tubes, 37 mortar rounds, four rocket propelled grenades, 96 RPG fuses, and eight RPG launchers. Logistical supplies, to include hygiene kits, propane tanks, lanterns, blankets and a space heater, were also found on site by coalition forces.

An expert explosives team was used to safely destroy the detention facility to prevent further use by terrorists, and supporting aircraft was called to destroy the weapons, which were consolidated into a nearby bunker.

�There is no place al-Qaida in Iraq can hide where we won�t find them and their weapons of terror,� said Maj. Winfield Danielson, MNF-I spokesperson. �Iraqi and coalition forces will continue to root out al-Qaida, securing a safer future for the people of Iraq.�

Business booming in Iraq, Convention Center; Offices being built in Baghdad

Do you get the feeling that Iraq is a cesspool of blood and guts? Well, look again � and look past the New York Times. A convention center and new offices show the progress toward peace in Iraq. The story:

BAGHDAD � Business development opportunities will soon be expanded at the Baghdad International Airport complex.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is overseeing work to convert the two former domestic terminals into a modern convention center. In addition, an eight-story structure is being remodeled to offer 250 office spaces for lease.
�That convention center will have the capacity to handle gatherings up to 25,000 people,� says USACE project engineer Matthew David. �It will include exhibition halls, offices, conference rooms, and a restaurant. We�re putting in new plumbing, plastering, electrical, lighting, and air conditioning. It�s located at the transportation hub of Iraq, a perfect location for such a facility.� The two former terminals are both two-story structures, one measuring 53x138 meters, the other 31x150 meters. The $6.3 million renovation project is about 20 percent finished with a projected completion date of next spring.
Next door to the convention center is an eight-story 3,076-sq.-meter office structure. �Businesses will be able to come in and rent space as needed, from one office to several floors of offices. Work there includes new restrooms, electrical, fire protection with sprinklers, lighting, new ceilings, plastering, a new mechanical system including two 200-ton air conditioning chillers, office furniture, a lighted parking lot, and a cafeteria.
�Our Iraqi contractor is definitely interested in the mission of rebuilding Iraq and is taking extra steps to ensure that the office building will meet the needs of its customers,� David said. Currently that $4 million project is about 30 percent finished with a projected completion date of April 2008.
