MAF Presents: The Daily Blog
Here at the Move America Forward Daily Blog we chronicle the good news on the War on Terrorism you might
not have heard about on the evening news. We also shine the spotlight on those whose conduct against our
country and our military is unbecoming.

Melanie’s Message Before Heading to Iraq
Hello everybody,
The war on terrorism has not yet been won, but we are certainly on the path towards victory.
First Pictures from “Voices of Soldiers” Truth Tour
We’ve just received the first pictures from the team of talk radio hosts, 9/11 survivors and others who are gathering outside CENTCOM headquarters in Tampa, Florida for the “Voices of Soldiers” Truth Tour.
We’re going to be doing a lot of listening on this trip - listening to the soldiers, Marines, airmen and sailors who are risking their lives in Iraq to protect America’s national security; listening to military officials tell us how they see things progressing in Operation Iraqi Freedom; listening to the Iraqi people, and much more. [Photos courtesy of Nancy Alexander, official trip photographer]
* We’ve already started receiving our first briefings - as shown in the photo below with a CENTCOM representative along with Marth Zoller (of WDUN 550 Atlanta/Gainesville), Lt. Col Buzz Patterson (Move America Forward Board Member and also host on RighTalk Radio Network, and Siobhan Guiney (formerly MAF’s Executive Director, she helped coordinate the trip):
* This first day has been a bit of an emotional day as well. Below is a photograph of Debra Burlingame (centered) along with Marc Flagg and his wife. Debra’s brother, Charles F. Burlingame III, was the pilot of the plane that was hijacked and crashed into the Pentagon. UPS Airlines First Officer Marc Flagg’s parents were killed on that same flight - American Airlines Flight 77. Flagg’s father was a naval aviator.
* A photograph of Martha Zoller (WDUN 550 AM - Atlanta/Gainesville), Lt. Col. Buzz Patterson (of RighTalk Radio and Move America Forward), and Siobhan Guiney (trip coordinator for Move America Forward):

* We are very grateful to the exceptional people at The Qourum Hotel in Tampa who have accomodated all of our logistical needs and been extremely supportive in helping to make this historic event occur:

Thoughts before “Voices of Soldiers” Truth Tour
Brad Maaske of the Iraqi Truth Project and talk radio host and producer with KMJ 580 AM in Fresno, will be joining us for the “Voices of Soldiers” Truth Tour. I wanted to share with you some of his thoughts as he prepares to make the journey over to Iraq to allow our soldiers and Marines to have their voices be heard - without distortion or filtering by certain old line biased media outlets…
Brad Maaske
My last minute thoughts on our trip.
On this 4th of July as I am taking care of last minute details and packing for my trip to Baghdad, I was sent a copy of a news story calling our “Voices of the Soldiers” tour a “propaganda tour”, and once again I am torn by the divide in our nation over the Iraqi war. In the news article “left” leaning journalists contend that anyone who is not of “their mind set”, meaning anti-war, anti-Bush, can’t report fairly about the war in Iraq and the War on Terrorism.
In my real estate sales training classes I teach that every person sees the world through their box. (Which is of course where we get the phrase “get out of the box”). Every persons box is made up of their beliefs, judgments, experiences and education. It is why if there is a traffic accident and you ask three people about the accident, you will get three, often conflicting stories about the same event. What disturbs me about the “left” leaning journalists is their contention, that if you are not against the war, against our foreign policy and against President Bush, your point of view is not valid.
I teach my agents that people can never change their lives if they do not get out of the box. They will make the same mistakes over and over again, always ending up with the same lot in their life they started with. Getting out of the box means we concentrate on “what could be”, instead of making judgments and getting bogged down with all the obstacles in life, which prevent things from changing.
President Bush has set upon a historic course of action with his “Bush Doctrine”. The thought that people in the Middle East can self govern, without fascist or religious zealots controlling their lives seems unbelievable or unrealistic to these left leaning journalists. The thought that Muslims might enjoy the same freedoms as Americans enjoy seems to be a childish unrealistic goal to these same people. And the thought that the Iraqis might welcome some intervention into their lives to help stop the long brutal, murderous reign of Saddam Hussein seems to be inconceivable to them.
The “what could be” is so important in this war. A pro-US Democracy in the Middle East! Millions of people freed from centuries of repression and torture. I so hope and pray that those within our own country quit attacking us from within and begin to concentrate on the “What Could Be!”
I am tired of seeing the news as filtered through the lens and brain of a cameraman who was against the war, against the Bush Doctrine and not very proud of the things that America has done. I welcome the chance to see it first hand. To see why all the reports I receive from Iraqis and soldiers with their boots on the ground is so different from what I see and read in the mainstream media.
As I a finishing the final tasks to get ready for this trip, my wife and children are worried about me. I can’t say I don’t have apprehensions as well. I will make no bold claims about this trip. I will let the results speak for themselves. I will attempt to get the voice of the soldiers and some of the Iraqis out to the American People. I believe they deserve a chance to see things filtered through the lens and brain of a pro-America, pro-military and pro-Iraqi cameraman. If this is considered to be propaganda, then what is the reporting they have been doing called?
God Bless America and have a happy Fourth of July.

The Political Insurgents of America
TO: The Blogosphere & Other Interested Parties FROM: Howard Kaloogian & Melanie Morgan, Move America Forward SUBJECT: The political insurgents of America Bloggers, website hosts, and others who support the war against terrorism and our troops who bravely fight it… WE NEED YOUR HELP. Tuesday night President Bush gave a speech from Fort Bragg to rally public support for our troops and the important missions they are serving in the fight against terrorism. There should be NO DOUBT that the President’s opponents will surely use the following days as a staging ground to step up their continuing political insurgency – designed to undermine support amongst Americans for the fight against terrorism just as the terrorist insurgents in Iraq seek to undermine support amongst the Iraqi citizenry for a free, democratic and peaceful Iraq. The political insurgents of the “Blame America First” crowd in America launched their jihad against Operation Iraqi Freedom before it even began (actually even before Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan when led by Congresswoman Barbara Lee they implored us to “Bomb Them With Bread”). They tell us the war in Iraq has nothing to do with Al Qaeda even as their liberal journalist brethren report on the near daily attacks against civilians and Coalition Forces alike by the group “al Qaeda in Iraq” led by Abu Musab Al Zarqawi. Increasingly, they’ve resorted to the macabre practice of celebrating “bad news” in the war effort – hoping such news will once and for all discredit the Bush Administration and anyone who supports the mission in Iraq. They impatiently waited like groupies lined up in advance of a big rock concert for the day the death toll of U.S. Troops in Iraq reached 1,000 – ready with their pre-printed newspaper headlines and NightLine specials to decry the war effort. And in recent weeks they’ve sunk to new lows – orchestrating a multi-front propaganda campaign to make the American public believe that our own sons and daughters serving at GITMO had become infected with some real life “Lord of the Flies” syndrome… becoming the butchers and torturers of the “Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime—Pol Pot or others—that had no concern for human beings.” That last quote of course belongs to Senator Dick Durbin – which gets us to our point. That the Senator from Illinois was able to utter those words and proceed without a slap on the wrist, without censure by the Senate, and with a near media blackout of his abhorrent behavior by the old line liberal media establishment (aka “mainstream media”) cannot be something we tolerate. We must stand toe to toe with the likes of Senator Durbin in the battle for the hearts and minds of the American public, and we must not allow conduct like Senator Durbin’s to stand without consequence. We need the help of you and your readers/followers/admirers/friends/loved ones and others – to make an example of Senator Dick Durbin. We must make the American public (who largely are still unaware of the Senator’s initial statements) aware that these are the tactics being used by those who wish to rile them up into a frenzied state of “BRING THEM HOME NOW” Vietnamization. On July 4th – Independence Day from those who seek to undermine our national resolve - we will begin a television ad campaign to hold Senator Dick Durbin accountable for his denouncement of our troops. The first ad, “Tortured Words,” will air nationwide on cable news channels (Fox News, CNN, etc…) and in Illinois on the major broadcast affiliates (ABC, CBS, NBC, etc…) However, we need your help to raise the remaining money for airtime in just a few days time. We are about $174,832 short of our initial budget for the ad campaign. That means we need just 6,993 Americans to contribute an average of $25 to the ad campaign. (Or less Americans to contribute a slightly larger amount). We haven’t got much time to get our order for airtime in with the networks – will you please help us spread word of our efforts – and need for assistance?
The first ad – “TORTURED WORDS” can be seen at our website:
Direct link to the first ad is:
And individuals may contribute online at:
We plan to keep the pressure up after this initial ad run – with a longer 60-second spot featuring the Senator in his own words – but 60-second ads cost twice as much as our current 30-second spot, so first things first. We must pay for our more modest media budget before we worry about the future. In the 24-hour media cycle we have a tendency to move on to the next story before the last one has ever been fully told. We CANNOT afford to do this with Senator Durbin. We must push back for once and turn the tables in the war for hearts and minds. Let us return the news cycle to the need to hold Senator Durbin accountable and let us demonstrate to those who relish a return to the 1960’s that they best put their plans for Woodstock 2006, their campus riots and their spitting upon returning U.S. Troops on hold. We’re not going to let them conjure up that kind of America again. Thank you in advance for your help. Sincerely,
Melanie Morgan & Howard Kaloogian
P.S. Lest you think our commitment to this cause is not complete, please note that later today we will be sending you an update on “The Truth Tour” – we will be traveling to Iraq July 7th - 17th, along with fellow MAF Board Member, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Buzz Patterson (the man who carried the nuclear football during the Clinton Administration), leading a delegation of talk radio hosts who will interview our troops and allow them to report to America on the accomplishments they are making in Iraq that never get reported by certain media outlets. We’re prepared to walk the walk ourselves – and not just ask others to help us in this just cause.
