U.S.Troops rout al-Qaida in Baghdad
Bad news for the white-flag brigade: the good guys (the United States) has cleaned house in Baghdad and can now reduce troop levels there.
The International Herald Tribue reports:
American forces have routed Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia from every neighborhood of Baghdad, a top American general said Wednesday, allowing for a reduction of U.S. troops to pre-surge levels and an increased focus on Shiite militias.
Major-General Joseph Fil, commander of U.S. forces in Baghdad, said that American troops have yet to clear 13 percent of the city, including Sadr City and several other neighborhoods controlled by Shiite militias. But, he said, “there’s just no question” that violence has been reduced since a spike in June.
“Murder victims are down 80 percent from where they were at the peak” he said. “IED attacks are down 70 percent.”
And Reuters adds more good news:
Americans cannot win unless the enemy within grips our government.
Hooray for our team! Boo-friggin’-hoo for the losers (Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Ted Knnedy, and various spineless republicans.
As we at Move America Forward have said all along: Give our troops the time and resources, and they will NOT be beaten. Hoo-ah!!
Peace in the Land
Michael Yon brings more truth from Iraq
Thanks and Praise: I photographed men and women, both Christians and Muslims, placing a cross atop the St. John’s Church in Baghdad. They had taken the cross from storage and a man washed it before carrying it up to the dome.
A Muslim man had invited the American soldiers from “Chosen” Company 2-12 Infantry to the church, where I videotaped as Muslims and Christians worked and rejoiced at the reopening of St John’s, an occasion all viewed as a sign of hope.
The Iraqis asked me to convey a message of thanks to the American people. ” Thank you, thank you,” the people were saying. One man said, “Thank you for peace.” Another man, a Muslim, said “All the people, all the people in Iraq, Muslim and Christian, is brother.” The men and women were holding bells, and for the first time in memory freedom rang over the ravaged land between two rivers.
Iraqis going home under safer conditions
The report on returnign Iraqis is h
A decline in violence has prompted Iraqi refugees to pack up and return home, with the government yesterday claiming 46,030 people had crossed back over the borders last month alone.
Brigadier General Qassim al Moussawi, the spokesman for a US-Iraqi military push to pacify Baghdad, said border authorities recorded 46,030 people returning to Iraq in October and attributed the large number to the “improving security situation”.
“The level of terrorist operations has dropped in most of the capital’s neighbourhoods, due to the good performance of the armed forces,” al Moussawi told reporters. He did not give numbers of Iraqis returning home before last month.
Our troops are routing the enemies in the Middle East and knocking the wind out of their critics at home. Poor Code Pink.

Al-Qaida terrorists can run, but they’ll only die tired
(This is a dungeon used by terrorists in Iraq to hide prisoners whom they regularly torture)
As a journalist, I strive to bring news to readers that they won’t get elsewhere. Here at Move America Forward, we search and scan sources from around the world to find stories related to our mission: to support our troops and their missions.
Today, let’s start with news from Iraq, where our troops are cleaning house. Never mind what you’ve heard from Sens. Harry Reid and Hillary Clinton. The United States and its allies, including Iraqi forces, are wiping out nests of terrorists around the world while assisting children and families with their health needs.
Here’s a story from the front lines describing how our troops are snuffing out terrorists with the help of Iraqi civilians who are sick and tired of the crazies destroying their homes and communities:
BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition forces found an alleged terrorist detention facility and several weapons caches Friday during an operation to disrupt al-Qaida and foreign terrorist operations in central Iraq.
Intelligence gained from previous coalition forces operations led the ground force to an area believed to be a safe haven for foreign terrorists. In the 24-hour operation in west Samarra, coalition forces discovered a bunker allegedly used as a terrorist detention facility and an area with several hidden weapons caches. Among other weapons, ammunition and military equipment, the ground forces found anti-aircraft weaponry, 12 AK-47 rifles, 18 mortar tubes, 37 mortar rounds, four rocket propelled grenades, 96 RPG fuses, and eight RPG launchers. Logistical supplies, to include hygiene kits, propane tanks, lanterns, blankets and a space heater, were also found on site by coalition forces.
An expert explosives team was used to safely destroy the detention facility to prevent further use by terrorists, and supporting aircraft was called to destroy the weapons, which were consolidated into a nearby bunker.
“There is no place al-Qaida in Iraq can hide where we won’t find them and their weapons of terror,” said Maj. Winfield Danielson, MNF-I spokesperson. “Iraqi and coalition forces will continue to root out al-Qaida, securing a safer future for the people of Iraq.”
Business booming in Iraq, Convention Center; Offices being built in Baghdad
Do you get the feeling that Iraq is a cesspool of blood and guts? Well, look again – and look past the New York Times. A convention center and new offices show the progress toward peace in Iraq. The story:
BAGHDAD — Business development opportunities will soon be expanded at the Baghdad International Airport complex.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is overseeing work to convert the two former domestic terminals into a modern convention center. In addition, an eight-story structure is being remodeled to offer 250 office spaces for lease.
“That convention center will have the capacity to handle gatherings up to 25,000 people,” says USACE project engineer Matthew David. “It will include exhibition halls, offices, conference rooms, and a restaurant. We’re putting in new plumbing, plastering, electrical, lighting, and air conditioning. It’s located at the transportation hub of Iraq, a perfect location for such a facility.” The two former terminals are both two-story structures, one measuring 53x138 meters, the other 31x150 meters. The $6.3 million renovation project is about 20 percent finished with a projected completion date of next spring.
Next door to the convention center is an eight-story 3,076-sq.-meter office structure. “Businesses will be able to come in and rent space as needed, from one office to several floors of offices. Work there includes new restrooms, electrical, fire protection with sprinklers, lighting, new ceilings, plastering, a new mechanical system including two 200-ton air conditioning chillers, office furniture, a lighted parking lot, and a cafeteria.
“Our Iraqi contractor is definitely interested in the mission of rebuilding Iraq and is taking extra steps to ensure that the office building will meet the needs of its customers,” David said. Currently that $4 million project is about 30 percent finished with a projected completion date of April 2008.
Is that a Jihadist in your burqa, or are you just happy to see me?
Coalition forces sniffed out a terrorist disguised in women’s clothing, the traditional burqa. Michelle Malkin has the scoop.
Medicine, toys and love for the Iraqi people
An Iraqi boy awaiting a medical screening holds toys and candy given to him by U.S. Marines in Saqlawiyah, Iraq, on Oct. 23, 2007. A combined medical engagement, hosted by coalition forces and executed by Iraqi army soldiers, shows continual positive relationship between Iraqi citizens and security forces.

Iraqi Islamic Party: al Qaeda is defeated
News is never pretty in a war zone. But a wave of positive developments, brought to all of us from America’s troops’ determination, is overwhelming the naysayers and peddlers of negativism.
Michael Yon, among the best reporters in the war zone, reports today that al Qaida is defeated. We’ve heard that the evil organization has failed in its bloody plan to cause an all-out civil war between Sunnis and Shiites. American commanders and diplomats have told us this.
But now the Iraqi Islamic Party has announced the death-knell of al Qaida. Michael Yon reports:
“Al Qaeda in Iraq is defeated,” according to Sheik Omar Jabouri, spokesman for the Iraqi Islamic Party and a member of the widespread and influential Jabouri Tribe. Speaking through an interpreter at a 31 October meeting at the Iraqi Islamic Party headquarters in downtown Baghdad, Sheik Omar said that al Qaeda had been “defeated mentally, and therefore is defeated physically,” referring to how clear it has become that the terrorist group’s tactics have backfired. Operatives who could once disappear back into the crowd after committing an increasingly atrocious attack no longer find safe haven among the Iraqis who live in the southern part of Baghdad. They are being hunted down and killed. Or, if they are lucky, captured by Americans.
Colonel Ricky Gibbs, the American brigade commander with responsibility for the Rashid District in south Baghdad today told me, “So goes South Baghdad goes Baghdad.” General Petraeus had told me similar things about the importance of South Baghdad. In fact, Rashid is quickly developing into what might be one of the final serious battlegrounds of the war.
So where are the headlines? Did the New York Times, which has so often divulged top secrete programs to protect Americans, miss this story?
If you want the real news, you must go to Michael Yon Online
Congratulations Gen. David Petraeus and all of our troops. And good work, Michael.
