MAF Presents: The Daily Blog

Here at the Move America Forward Daily Blog we chronicle the good news on the War on Terrorism you might not have heard about on the evening news. We also shine the spotlight on those whose conduct against our country and our military is unbecoming.

Iran’s War with the United States

Iran is crossing the line in its wars with the United States. It denigrates the victims of Sept. 11, 2001, and claims the United States and Israel “milk 9/11” for sympathy. It is sad to see such a filthy regime run a country of beautiful people who suffer at its hands.

Iran Uses U.S. Business to Wage War

During testimony over two days by Gen. David Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker, the warmongering by Iran came up more than once. Weapons found inside Iraq, documents seized by American troops and other intelligence shows that Iran is the force behind much of the violence that kills America soldiers and innocents in Iraq.
None of that should surprise most close readers of politics and war.
But Iran is doing more to manipulate and hurt Americans. Reporters at the blog, Sweetness & Light, found that Iran paid for a Zobgy poll that shows 43 percent of Americans believe the Bush Administration knew about 9/11 and did nothing about it.
Mainstream American media published the poll and didn’t question who commissioned it. Thankfully, Sweetness and Light investigated the poll, which reeked of bias. Well, Iran is damned biased about the United States and our ally, Israel.
I concur with other commentators that Zogby should be investigated to determine whether the business broke any laws by dealing with Iran.
As for the mainstream media, I am more and more discouraged by my chosen profession. Two helpful hints: Follow the money. Two: If your mama tells you she loves you, check it out.

Day Eight - Des Moines, Iowa

We knew that we wanted to hurry and get to Des Moines, IA because the rally was at the State Capitol and there were several groups arranged to meet us there and help us out in our rally.

These guys are bag pipers and they volunteered to offer their services for our rally.

We also had the Des Moines North High School JROTC Color Guard.

We were told that one of the local TV stations was going to cover our Des Moines rally in entirety and I noticed a few cameras but none of them stayed for an extended period of time. So maybe they flaked on us, or maybe they just got what they thought they needed and left.

So we opened up with the JROTC Color Guard marching and presenting the colors for us, and then the bag pipers marched from one end of the street to the other playing some song that sounded somewhat familiar but I of course have no idea what it is. Then Diana Nagy sang The Star Spangled Banner and Where Freedom Flies while the JROTC displayed the colors proudly!

A few times now Deborah Johns has talked about how her son Will wanted to join the Marine Corps even before he turned 18. I don’t think I’ve mentioned that before, because sometimes we have to skip some details when our rallies are running late. But whenever she has time to tell the whole story I am always very impressed with that young man’s desire to serve our country. According to Deborah, Will asked his mom if she wanted to go for a drive with him, and what mother wouldn’t?  I can’t remember the last time I spent any real quality time talking with my mom about life and what’s going on in mine. I bet Will, like most of us, was the same way so of course Deborah would have leapt at the chance to spend some time with Will. When Will drove his mom to the Marine Corps recruiting station though, she was speechless. But that is what Will wanted to do, serve his country and Deborah couldn’t be more proud of her son. I hope I can meet him some day and tell him myself how thankful I am.

I was able to get a cool little video today of Buzz just talking a little about the way our soldiers are being politicized and manipulated without even being asked if they mind being spoken for by either republicans or democrats.

It reminds me of these anti-war protesters and their EXTREMELY distasteful die-in protests. Apparently they are planning one of these for this coming Saturday; and their plan is to acquire 3700 or so coffins, one for each of our braze men and women who have died in Iraq, placing the names of the dead on those coffins and having an activist play that dead soldier in their die-in. It’s just despicable because they can’t ask the soldiers who have fallen if they support the war or not, if they support what the protestors or doing, and if they mind being used as a political prop. Worse still, they don’t bother to ask the families of these fallen soldiers if their sons or daughters would have consented to such a thing or how the family feels about the use of their son or daughter’s name.

Debbie Lee hopes to find the actor who will be her son Marc at the DC protest and request that Marc’s name not be used as a political tool. Let’s see if they respect the wishes of Marc’s mother…

After some more words from Buzz we wanted to wrap up so Diana sang America the Beautiful and the bag pipers closed for us with Amazing Grace! I talked to a lot of really neat people and I asked several of them how they felt living in Iowa where it was basically politics central during the primary season. Many related to me that Iowa’s residents often will get sick of politics and sometimes just turn it off. But everyone seemed to agree that the idea of the caucus system was awesome and was really a good example of more pure democracy. Many did however admit that in 2004 the caucus systems got so much media attention that the process suffered quite a bit. Interesting things you learn on the road.

Anti-war protestor hacks student to death

Over the past day and a half, we’ve seen all kinds of anti-war loons insisting that the United States has lost a war to 7th-century rock-throwers in rags. Self-loathing representatives and Senators from both sides of the aisle put up the white flag before Gen. David Petraeus could even utter a word.
Then we got the wailing women from the Pepto Bismol battery. Jeeze. Can somebody get these women their meds?
At least they weren’t using an axe to get their point across.
http://www.breitbart.com reports that a lefty, soldier-hating man (I use the word loosely) used an axe to kill a student after he couldn’t find a soldier to kill.

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) - A U.S. citizen has confessed to using an axe to kill a Dutch student after failing to find a soldier to attack, his lawyer said Tuesday.
The suspect, Carlos Hartmann, 41, of Tecumseh, Mich., has confessed to the Sept. 8 killing on a train platform in the southern city of Roosendaal, defence lawyer Peter Gremmen said.
Gremmen said Hartmann wanted to punish the Netherlands for its support of the war in Iraq.
Hartmann appeared before a judge Tuesday and was ordered held for another two weeks for investigation.
“He hates soldiers, and says that the army kills people, so it would be legitimate if he were also to kill someone . . . from the American military - or from its NATO allies,” Gremmen said in a telephone interview.

Nice, eh? And so peaceful.
I hope it doesn’t give any ideas to other peaceful anti-war protesters.

Remembering

This is Justin Johnson. His buddies knew him as J.J. The day Osama bin Laden ignited a full-blown war with the United States, Justin’s gut and heart told him to defend his country. He hounded his parents, Joe and Jan Johnson, until Joe went with him to the recruiters’ office. Joe knew something about recruiters – he had served twice before.

Justin prepared for his personal encounters with the radical Muslim terrorists as he trained at Fort Hood, Texas. He befriended Casey Sheehan, the son of anti-war protester Cindy Sheehan and a proud American soldier.

Justin and Casey went to Iraq to fight for America’s safety. They died six days apart in Sadr City at the hands of al Sadr’s guerilla and terrorist army. Casey died April 4, 2004. Justin followed his friend on April 10, 2004.

Move America Forward Chairman Melanie Morgan and I wrote their story in our book “American Mourning.”

Today we remember Justin and Casey and the 3,000 innocents who died on Sept. 11, 2001, in an unprovoked attack on American soil.

This portrait of Justin was beautifully created by Leah Hopkins Henry, who has graciously made several portraits of fallen soldiers as part of a project called “Art from the Heart.” Other southern artists have also painted portraits of other Georgia soldiers who died in Iraq and Afghanistan for the project.

The 20 x 24 oil portraits are donated to the families in honor of the sacrifices these young men and women have made for this country,” Hopkins Henry wrote to me.

An exhibit of these portraits with biographies will be shown at the National Museum of Patriotism in Atlanta through Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

I want to thank Hopkins Henry and all of the artists for remembering our troops.

For more information on the exhibit, please go to http://www.leahhenry.com

Day Eight - Kansas City, MO

World War One memorial in Kansas City

For Kansas City we had another star speaker arranged through the Pentagon. Colonel Jeffrey Witsken served in Baghdad for one year and came to speak to our rally about his experiences there.

The only other notable thing about the Kansas City rally was that we had to rush through it, and we knew we would have to do that because we schedules the Des Moines rally with no wiggle room and we knew we could not be late because of everything we had arranged to be waiting for us in Des Moines.

So we arrived to much fanfare, as usual, hahaha. There was a pretty good crowd present and Col. Witsken was already there waiting for us so I went to talk with him a little about what he planned to speak on and what he wanted to say. We also had to inform him that we would have to move quickly because of the tight schedule.

Everyone there was really great though. We had Gathering of Eagles people, Free Republic people, vets, etc.

We had one blue star family whose son is so elite that I can’t even tell you who he is or what unit he is in. Must be pretty crazy huh?

Colonel Witsken talked at length about what it’s like for the troops over there. The idea is basically what you might expect; they love to hear from us. The Colonel also noted that while good news from home and receiving thoughts of appreciation from common Americans did a lot to life the spirits of the soldiers, the bad news they see on the television every night is disheartening to them. This just confirms the reports that I hear from everyone I have talked to who has actually been to Iraq, that the troops there largely want to win and feel compassion for the Iraqi people.
