LAST CHANCE TO SEND SUPPORT TO TROOPS IN NEED!
While you plan a romantic evening for Valentine’s Day, our troops
are on patrol and serving their country just like any other day!
Valentine’s Day is this Saturday and many couples are thinking about last minute preparations for this special occasion. But it’s even more important to remember our troops serving in Afghanistan and send them a care package. While people back home are trying to plan how to spend Valentine’s Day with their loved ones, getting gifts, signing cards, or making dinner reservations, our troops deployed in the Middle East are checking their equipment, preparing for watch, and going on patrol. It’s a sacrifice they are willing to make for all of us in order to keep America safe!
As you are doing your holiday planning today, think about what our troops are up to:
Calling to make dinner reservations at that exclusive restaurant?
Our troops are calling in positions of Taliban fighters.
Giving your sweetheart some Valentine’s chocolates?
Give the troops Sweethearts candy, V-Day chocolate and cards in every box!
This Valentine’s Day show the troops you care and send them a personal note from you, along with much needed supplies and boxes of Valentine’s candy. Don’t let our troops in Afghanistan or Iraq be forgotten, sponsor a care package now. CLICK HERE TO SEND SUPPORT!
Sharing a drink with friends and loved ones?
Our troops struggle to stay hydrated in the harsh climate!
Renting a limo so you can ride in style?
Our troops dodge IED’s every day in their HMMWVs.
Looking forward to a candlelit dinner at a fancy restaurant?
Our troops make due with MRE’s unless they are lucky enough
to get a care package sponsored by someone like YOU!
SCHOOL KIDS WRITE VALENTINE’S DAY CARDS FOR THE TROOPS
“THANK YOU FOR FIGHTING AND MAKING THE WORLD FREE”
Move America Forward has reached out to local area schools to help them connect with troops in Afghanistan. We’re including some Valentine’s Day cards prepared by kids from grades 1-6 who wanted to say “It is an honor to be writing a letter to a soldier. You are a hero to the USA.”
Here are some MORE examples of Valentine’s Day cards we’ve collected from the kids!
You can send them some love with your personal message attached to a care package full of things that they want. Valentine’s Day may be a day for loved ones, couples and family, but no matter what day of the year it is, no one deserves our respect and support more than our troops.
VALENTINE’S DAY 10 DAYS AWAY – SPONSOR A CARE PACKAGE NOW!
Every holiday that a Soldier, Marine, Sailor, Airman, or Guardsman spends deployed overseas can be tough, and Valentine’s Day is no exception. Military families go through incredible strain from the difficulties of deployment. Husbands and wives use every method available to stay in touch, but it’s still difficult to maintain across thousands of miles of separation and months spent away from home. Don’t let our troops get lonely this Valentine’s Day!
Move America Forward has made it easy to send our troops special Valentine’s Day care packages with a personal note from you.
We have put together a special care package that includes special pro-troop Valentine’s heart candies to lift our troops’ spirits.
Send a message of love and support to a brave Soldier, Marine, Sailor, Airman, or Guardsman serving overseas. They deserve a morale boost and some sweet treats!
Right now we’re getting ready to send hundreds of Valentine’s Day care packages to troops serving overseas, but we need YOU to sponsor them so that we can get them to the post office and then to our troops on the front lines. Show your support for our brave troops this Valentine’s Day.
MAF Blogger Danny here with a personal message to you. First of all, we are happy to announce that we have reached our goal to raise $13,800, enough to pay for the postage to send 1,000 packages of Coffee, Girl Scout Cookies, See’s Candies, and other great items to our troops over in Afghanistan who really need our support! Thanks to your support these thousand care packages will bring a lot of joy to the troops lucky enough to receive them.
You have been receiving plenty of emails over the past few weeks, as we have been trying hard to reach our goal and sending out plenty of requests for more donations. Some of you might be annoyed by the constant stream of emails, and we are sorry if they get annoying, but please understand that it was necessary to reach our goal, which we finally did! Please also bear in mind that we do our best to bring you fresh information and interesting news stories along with every fundraising email.
I know that Move America Forward is only one of dozens of great organizations that help our active duty military or our veterans and you probably hear from several other organizations as well, also asking for help. So it means a lot to our team that you choose to give us your support, knowing full well that you could choose any number of other groups to give your donations.
I have been working with MAF since 2007 when I first joined Move America Forward on the road, visiting cities across the country on our “Fight for Victory” Caravan and since then I have accompanied MAF on almost every event, protest, fundraiser, rally, or parade as a writer and camera man, doing my best to bring you the story as I saw it.
We’ve rallied in support of our troops with thousands of flag waving patriots in almost every state of the Union. Together, we’ve protested agaisnt the likes of CODE PINK, Answer Coalition, Michael Moore, Bill Ayers, the Berkeley City Council and more. We’ve been fortunate enough to have great allies in this fight…like Andrew Breitbart, a dear friend whom we loved and continue to miss. Our Troopathons have featured the most recognizable pro-troop celebrities like Governor Sarah Palin, Governor Rick Perry, Governor Mike Huckabee, Gary Sinise, Robert Davi, Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and so many more!
MAF has sent delegations to Iraq four times, in 2005, 2007, 2009, and 2011. While there we spent time with our troops on the front lines, we spoke to Iraqi military and government officials and we even saw the local Iraqi kids grateful for our troops being there to protect them. We also visited Guantanamo Bay in 2008 and saw how the media claims about mistreatment were completely made up. Over the years we’ve sent over 320 tons of care packages to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Looking back on it all, it’s really quite an impressive list of accomplishments, and I only list them in order to emphasize the fact that we couldn’t have accomplished any of it without you and your generous support. Thank you for your years of being part of the MAF family and I hope you join me and the whole MAF team in looking forward to accomplishing more in the months to come.
The cost to mail each box is $13.80 from the USPS. That means we need $13,800 to mail 1,000 boxes and we’re only $1,825 away from our goal! We are so very close, will you help us reach our goal tonight?
JOIN MAF’S HEROES WALL
We would like to recognize the following donors who REALLY stepped up and donated over $100 to the Operation: Mail Call over the past 2 weeks. The following people are MAF Heroes by being heroes to our troops and giving so much to support them while they are deployed on the front lines. Join the MAF Heroes Wall today and see your name on the list!
Take Advantage of this Special Opportunity from MAF
Move America Forward wants you to join us for a celebration of the release of the new movie American Sniper, the new film opening this week directed by Clint Eastwood. This is the story of Chris Kyle, portrayed by Bradley Cooper, the deadliest sniper in American history. Not only is this a great story about one of the most accomplished military members in American history, it’s also a tragedy as Chris was murdered by a fellow veteran who was unstable and suffered from extreme PTSD.
We recently received hundreds of free boxes of See’s Candy, authentic Girl Scout Cookies and a surplus of gourmet coffee that we received from Rogers Family Coffee Company.
Here is the problem we are facing: with so many extra boxes, we don’t have the money for postage to ship the much needed supplies and care packages to our troops!
It only costs $13.80 to just for postage to send a box to our troops, so we have set a goal of $13,800 to send 1,000 boxes but we need your help – please help us reach our goal!
If you make a donation of $100 or more right now, we will send you a gift certificate to go see American Sniper in theaters. With one donation you can help out our troops who really need your support, as well as treat yourself to a great Pro-Troop Movie Night!
This movie hits home personally for MAF’s own Debbie Lee, because she knew Christ Kyle in life, he was one of her adopted boys. Chirs Kyle was a Navy SEAL and he served on SEAL Team Three, which is the team her son Marc Alan Lee was deployed with when he was killed in Ramadi, Iraq on August 2nd, 2006.
Debbie was so close with Chris Kyle because Chris was on that mission with Marc on the day he died. Marc is featured in the film, played by Luke Grimes, so this is a very personal connection for Debbie Lee, who was invited to the premiere and met director Clint Eastwood and the star of the film Cooper.
|I sent Bradley Marc’s memorial bracelet, Marc’s challenge coin that Chris carried in his pocket everyday and had on him when he died. I also sent Marc’s memorial patch that his teammates had made and wore the rest of his deployment in Marc’s memory.
To my surprise a few weeks after I sent the package I received 2 dozen white roses from Bradley Cooper. I was shocked. The flowers arrived as I was headed out the door for San Diego to visit Marc’s grave for his birthday. When the florist made the delivery and before I opened the card, I guessed that it was from one of my “adopted boys.”
So you can imagine the shock when I read the card. That was something Chris would have done, maybe Bradley does have the heart to play Chris.
We want you to go see this film. Not only is it an important and powerful story, but there is a strong connection to MAF’s Debbie Lee. So to get more people out to the cinemas, we’re offering this special limited time deal – –
donate $100 or more to MAF and we’ll send you a $25 gift certificate, about enough for 2 tickets to see this great work of art that honors our troops!
In order to receive your electronic gift certificate for the tickets you MUST provide a valid e-mail address when you make your donation! The e-mail you provide is where the redeemable electronic gift certificate will be sent. Please note your tax deductible gift to Move America Forward will be the amount of your donation minus the cost of the movie tickets ($25). So if you donate $100, the amount you can deduct on your federal income tax is $75. If you donate 250, the amount that you can deduct is $225.
We have created a very GOOD problem that we urgently need your help with.
We recently received hundreds of free boxes of See’s Candy thanks to a very generous donation from the folks at See’s for Soldiers and tons of authentic Girl Scout Cookies from a local supporter. In addition, we have a surplus of gourmet coffee that we received from Rogers Family Coffee Company.
So our warehouse is flush with See’s Candy, Rogers Family Co. coffee, and Girl Scout Cookies! The cost to mail each box is $13.80 from the USPS.
That means that we urgently need to raise $13,800 ASAP. Will you please help us purchase the postage to mail these See’s Candies and Girl Scout Cookies to our troops?
Check out more pictures of the boxes upon boxes of cookies and candy given to us and waiting to be packed up and shipped to our troops – we just need postage!
We have supplies to ship 1,000 boxes of care packages, but without money for postage, all the cookies, candy, coffee and other supplies are just sitting here in our Sacramento warehouse. We need your help to purchase postage and get them out of our warehouse, where they are doing no good, and over to Afghanistan and into the arms of our troops that so desperately need them.
|MAF would like to also express our deepest condolences to the families of those French citizens killed in today’s terror attacks. Our hearts and prayers are with you.MAF has released a full press statement which you can click here to read.|
As we gather today with friends and families across the country to celebrate, please take a moment to pray for our troops serving overseas in harm’s way. It is for our sake that they are putting their lives on the line and sacrificing. We here at Move America Forward want to wish you and your family a very special and Merry Christmas. We hope you have enjoyed being a part of our organization for another year as much as we have enjoyed working to support our troops. If you have any doubt whether these care packages really have an impact on our troops, just take a look at this letter we received from a soldier in Afghanistan who recently received a package sponsored by someone like you.
This touching letter is the best Christmas gift we could give to you, our generous supporters. Your donations throughout the year have made an immense difference to our brave men and women in uniform. You have kept us going throughout another year filled with troubling events around the world, and a frustrating and complacent administration in the White House. Through it all, we have worked diligently to keep the mission in mind, and do whatever we could to support our troops in Afghanistan. Thank You.
In the coming year we will be working just as hard to support our troops still fighting in Afghanistan and hope we can count on your continued support.
Move America Forward is awed by the gifts that our troops have given to us and the sacrifices they make. Each day we chronicle these gifts as reasons we are celebrating our troops this holiday season. We want you to help the troops who can’t come home, join us in sending a care package today.
Check out these AMAZING from Sonoma County’s Morning News with Melanie Morgan of the care package stuff they collected for MAF. Thanks to everyone at KSRO 1350, Sonoma County, this Holiday Season for supporting our troops!
Huge thank you to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s office for helping collect hundreds of pounds of items for our troops! These items will go a long way to helping our troops on the front lines in Afghanistan. The Sheriff’s Dept. sent out Sergeant Cecile Focha to help us pack all the items they collected into the truck so we could get it back to Sacramento and into the care packages.
WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) has been a long time supporter of the troops and they’re showing it again this year by putting on a Christmas event to thank the troops led by none other than Hulk Hogan himself. You may remember seeing the Hulkster on last year’s Troopathon. Now he’s joining other WWE stars to treat the troops to some live wrestling entertainment at a Christmas special just for the troops.
Here’s more about this televised event from the Charlotte Observer:
WWE pays annual holiday tribute to US troops
By DAN GELSTON
AP Sports Writer
Tuesday, Dec. 09, 2014Hulk Hogan was a one-man armed forces branch inside the ring, disposing the latest lumbering threats from Cold War Russia, Iran and even an Iraqi sympathizer with nothing more than a big boot to the face and a legdrop.Hogan, the biggest star in WWE history, never lost sight of the work performed by real American troops around the world who served their country in a far more hostile environment than the squared circle.”It’s amazing to see how brave, how proud and how positive these kids are,” Hogan said.
Hogan has a special chance to thank servicemen in person when World Wrestling Entertainment tapes its annual “WWE Tribute to the Troops” show on Tuesday night at Fort Benning in Columbus, Georgia. The WWE’s 12th holiday troops’ special brings together celebrities from sports, entertainment and pop culture to entertain American servicemen and women. The show airs on USA Network and NBC later this month.
You might remember seeing Hulk Hogan’s pre-recorded message of support on last year’s Troopathon. The Hulkster recorded this message for MAF to help us promote our Troopathon fundraiser and show his support.
We’re proud to see him continuing his support for the troops this Christmas season. MAF is also doing everything we can to support the troops during the Holidays by offering our special Christmas care packages.
We hear time and time again from our military care package recipients how much they appreciate our care packages and how much it means to them to know that people from back home took the time to think of them.Think about how lonely it can get for our troops in Afghanistan, many are on isolated bases where they cannot easily keep in contact with their families back home. Some troops hardly ever receive mail from home, some troops sadly never get anything.
Around Christmas time, our troops miss their families more than ever. They sacrifice that time with their families in order to protect us, but sometimes they still get homesick.
The American Soldier: A Selfless Force for Good, Fighting for Peace and Freedom In a World Gripped by Poverty and Tyranny
One of our pro-troop supporters and well known pro-troop blogger Donlyn Turnbull sent us this photo today which has been going viral on the web today.
We have not been able to definitively verify the origin of the picture, but those who posted it claim it is a photo of Master Sergeant Laron E. Golden of Arkadelphia, Arkansas. The setting is alleged to be San Benedetto, Italy, which the Allied 1st Armored Division was occupying on December 11, 1944, the date this photo is thought to have been taken. M/Sgt. Golden is sharing his food and supplies with the local children of the town who no doubt were having a tough time during winter in a town that had no doubt suffered some damage in the fighting.
When we saw this picture it not only reminded us of the selflessness and compassion that our troops displayed during WWII, but we immediately noticed the striking similarity to these photos, taken more recently in Iraq and Afghanistan.
70 years later, our troops continue to embody the same qualities that “The Greatest Generation” did when they fought World War II.
Honor, duty, and service to their country, yes all very important, but also they have the same compassion and good will toward men that made the American soldier truly the most powerful force for Good to walk the earth since Jesus Christ.
Our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan were willing to go fight on a foreign land and then after the fighting, share their food, build schools, houses and hospitals, and just do whatever they can to help the people there.
These extraordinary, honorable men and women deserve our support.
There are about 24,000 troops in Afghanistan still serving, fighting the Taliban every day and fighting to stabilize the war torn country so that it will never be a training ground for attacks on the U.S. again. These brave men and women won’t be home with their families for the holidays, they’ll be spending Christmas protecting our freedoms.
