Have you heard yet?We received an urgent direct request for supplies from the the U.S. Army Area Support Medical Company serving on he front-lines in Afghanistan (request letter below).I know that we don’t have to explain to you the important and vital role these medics play in the military. We need your immediate support so that we can take care of the guys and gals that take care of America’s bravest!
Thank you to those that have stepped up so far, but unfortunately, we have only raised $800 so far, and still need to raise $4,200 to reach our goal.
This is no time to get caught up in the buzz about who’s leading in the polls. Politics can be interesting sure, but our troops overseas are much more important. They’re risking their lives RIGHT NOW to keep America safe, and we can’t forget that or be too distracted by the 24-hour news cycle! We must constantly keep reminding our troops that they are remembered, that they are valued and appreciated. We owe everything to our troops!
In the letter they wrote to us below, the medics talk about how hot it is over there during the Summer, 122 degrees! Most of us can’t even imagine what that feels like, let alone having to go out on patrol for 8 hours, carrying 60 pounds of gear. Luckily our care packages have several great items to help our troops keep cool, like sunblock, lip balm, Hoo-ahhs field towels and best of all Gatorade to turn that bottle of water into a tasty refreshing treat of a drink!
You would be surprised how many troops write back to us saying that the care package we sent was the only mail they had received all year. Spending a 6-12 month deployment overseas with little or no mail from home can be discouraging or even depressing. Don’t let our troops be forgotten!
Our Care Package Program has delivered over 215 tons of care packages to the front lines of Afghanistan and Iraq. In partnership with our supporters each Care Package comes with a wide array of popular items requested by our troops.
But most importantly, each care package includes a personal message from you!!!
“Candy Diplomacy” Jelly Beans: One of our most requested items these gourmet Jelly Beans are used as a diplomatic tool for our troops or just as a snack. They are specifically flavored to appeal in the Middle East and each display the following message in English, Arabic, and Pashto, “A gift from the American people in hope that your country will one day enjoy the freedom and opportunities that we have in the United States.”
Freedom Blend Coffee: Custom Blended and Roasted to be BOLD and STRONG just like the troops. This pre-ground, premium coffee is custom roasted by a local Sacramento Coffee Shop and specially bagged with love for the troops. ‘Freedom Blend’ gourmet coffee is a big hit on the front lines, thanking the troops one hot brewed cup at a time.
Hoo-Ahhs Field Towels: Originally developed for military personnel, these strong, unscented, aloe-based moistened towels clean up the toughest dirt and grime without breaking apart like paper based towelettes. In Afghanistan, these single packets, warmed by body heat, can give the troops a much welcomed “hot bath” in the field. The only thing better is running water.
Military OneSource: Every deploying troop is briefed on these free services before they leave and we are proud to include their informational packet in each of our Care Packages. Through the Department of Defense, Military OneSource provides comprehensive information on every aspect of military life including deployment, reunion, relationships, grief, spouse employment and education, parenting and child care, and much more.
In addition each Care Package comes with a mix of other requested items, treats, and hygiene products along with seasonal treats and items.
Small Pack Serves 1-2 || Large Pack Serves 3-4 || Squad Pack Serves 8-10
Platoon Pack Serves 15-20 || Company Pack Serves 25-30 || Battalion Pack Serves 50-60
Move America Forward accepted an invitation from the Red Cross to take part in the Northern California Inter-Service Family Assistance Committee (ISFAC) Quarterly Meeting. ISFAC (Inter-Service Family Assistance Committee) is a voluntary Military cooperative partnership, organized to provide multi-service networking for training and assistance, to ensure Total Force Family Readiness. The event headed up by Deborah Burrow is to bring agencies offering various resources and information together to assist Military personnel and their Families in the Northern California region.
Mrs. Burrow welcomed MAF as its newest member at the January Meeting on Coast Guard Island, Base Alameda. “Thanks so much for attending our ISFAC meeting and being a speaker. Your program is wonderful and I know you will be a great resource and support for our troops.”
“Officially joining ISFAC is just one more way we are able to support the troops” said Scott Raab, Director of Outreach. “We are committed to helping as many troops as possible cooperationing with ISFAC, and all the great service organizations, like the Red Cross, who make up their membership.”
OBAMA HOLDING MILITARY FAMILIES HOSTAGE
TRIES TO RAM THROUGH DEBT CEILING INCREASE BY THREATENING VET BENEFITS
SACRAMENTO, Calif. –Move America Forward (MAF), the nation’s largest grassroots pro-troops organization, expressed outrage and condemned the use of our soldiers who bravely sacrifice every day for their country, as a political football. Today at an hour-long news conference President Barack Obama threatened not to pay out benefits to military veterans unless Republican lawmakers agree to raise the nation’s $16.4 trillion federal debt limit quickly with no agreement of cuts to government spending in exchange.
Scott Raab, a spokesman for the group and Navy Veteran, says Obama’s strategy is playing politics with our troops and their families.
“He’s threatening military families, saying they won’t get paychecks or benefits, unless Republicans go along with whatever he wants,” says Raab, who is currently receiving disability benefits from the VA that could be withheld according to Obama’s statements. (more…)
